Hair and Makeup for New Years Eve
It’s almost New Year’s Eve, do you know what that means? One last opportunity to stunt. If you’re anything like me, you love any and every excuse to dress up. The process of getting ready is sometimes more fun than the actual function so why not make it worthwhile and slay from top to bottom?! Here are some of our absolute favorite hair and makeup styles to try this New Year’s Eve!
NYE Makeup Looks: There Will Be Glitter
Simple, but super chic and effective. With this look, you wanna use a cream blush or a multi stick like this one by ELF. Doing your eyes, lips, and cheeks in the same color will tie everything together in a really pretty way. Plus, it’s way faster than doing a traditional full beat with eyeshadow and whatnot. First off, pick the color you wanna use for your monochrome look. I like a berry shade, especially in the winter for a pretty, natural looking flush. On clean, moisturized skin, apply your base of foundation or BB cream. Using your fingers, warm up some of the color and tap it onto your lids. Follow that by tapping it onto the apples of your cheeks, then onto your lips. Using your fingers will warm up the color and diffuse it really nicely, so it doesn’t look like it’s painted on. Top everything off with a dewy highlight — I like to use some lip balm so it won’t take away from the color. Set everything with a setting spray and voila, super chic, super pretty makeup done in 10 minutes tops!
We love this monochromatic look from sonjdradeluxe!
I told you there would be glitter! Honestly, New Year’s Eve is the best time to wear something as sparkly as this, especially if you’re going for a more basic look with your outfit like a little black dress. ELF makes a glitter eyeliner that costs $4!!! Plus, they’re always cruelty free! The brush is nice and thin, making wing application super easy. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty makeup artist, Priscilla Ono, once showed the world the versatility of Fenty Beauty’s products and it absolutely blew my mind. She used the iconic highlight, Trophy Wife, as eyeliner and it looked bomb! It turns out that any of the Killawatt highlighters can be turned into eyeliner by dipping a brush in some water. We love versatility. To start, apply your base on clean, moisturized skin. Allow it to fully set, then apply eyeshadow primer on your lash line to make the liner last and allow the color to really pop. Then, apply your glitter liner of choice and wing it out till your eyes look like they’re gonna fly away. The more drama the better -- it is New Year’s Eve after all. Apply your favorite blush to the apples of your cheeks, some shiny gloss to your lips, and set everything with a setting spray. If you’re still new to winging out your eyeliner, here’s a tutorial on 10 tricks to perfect it!

Glossy red lips.
Simple yet chic, a red lip is a classic but adding a glassy sheen on top takes it to another level. Since the lips are the focus of this look, eye makeup should be kept to a minimum but you can certainly add shadow or liner if you want! In order to make the lips last, start by exfoliating them with a lip scrub, followed by your favorite lip balm. On clean, moisturized skin, apply your base, then follow with two coats of volumizing mascara, like Milk Makeup’s Kush mascara (this one is top 5 for me, a self proclaimed mascara snob). Line your lips, then apply your red lipstick of choice (Cruella by Nars is a great universal red). Allow it to set, then apply an even coat of a clear lip gloss. Set everything with setting spray!
Not a makeup look, but definitely something fun for your body, Lush makes glitter body bars that you can use all over your body. They’re cocoa butter based, come in two shades, and they smell amazing. These are great if you wanna shimmer all night long!
High Ponytail Braid
Remember that wild braid Beyonce wore on the Formation tour? The one that pretty much has a mind of its own?
This is my inspo for this look and definitely my favorite party hairstyle as of late because it keeps your hair out of your face while still looking chic and playful. It’s super easy to execute and the high nature of the ponytail makes your features stand out in a really beautiful way.
Super Defined Heatless Curls
Keep up your heatless hair streak by doing some heatless curls! The twist and roll method around a roller gives the hair the same effect as a curling wand, without the damaging heat. Add a sparkly element by pulling up one side with a barrette like this one!
