Ingredients

Here at Belle Bar, we’re very well aware of the magic that is aloe vera. The thick, fleshy leaves of this plant naturally produce two mucus-y substances that do a world of good for our skin and hair. The first is a gel, which is mostly water and skin-healthy nutrients like vitamins A and C, folic acid, vitamin B12, magnesium, zinc, copper, and calcium. The second substance is the sap, also known as aloe latex. Aloe vera has scalp balancing benefits and can help restore the pH to create a healthier environment for the hair to grow. The goal of this leave in is to create soft, hydrated, supple hair. Aloe vera supports that goal by helping the hair retain water and moisture, fighting frizz and over drying, and protecting the hair from damage. Aloe also contains an enzyme that helps improve blood circulation to the scalp -- leading to a less dry scalp and helping to eliminate dandruff. We thought it would be the perfect star ingredient for SUDAN because it truly is a magical plant with an abundance of uses and benefits.
Neem leaves have an impressive number of medicinal benefits. It’s another one of nature’s anti-everything leaves -- antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant. For our hair, though, it contains a ton of fatty acids like linoleic, oleic, and stearic, all of which work to nourish and condition the scalp. These fatty acids help keep the hair nice and smooth. It's a deeply moisturizing ingredient as well, and helps repair the hair cuticle. We love it because it helps restore and repair dry hair from the inside out. Neem leaves will help nourish dry, brittle hair to give it a smoother, silkier texture.
Bitter melon is vine fruit that’s primarily found in the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa. It’s known for its medicinal value and its ability to keep diabetes under control. For our hair, it adds it's natural shine and helps ease a dry, itchy scalp. It can also help get dandruff under control. We added it to SUDAN because it helps repair split ends and reduce frizziness. Bitter melon also helps detangle the hair, making it more manageable.
Lemon peel is another anti-everything we love. It has antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant, and astringent properties. Combined, these help reduce stress and damage from free radicals, reduce buildup on the scalp, and balance the scalp and hair to a healthier state, naturally. It's helps unclog the hair follicles, preventing further hair fallout. It also helps stimulate hair growth. We added it to SUDAN because of its natural ability to improve the appearance and condition of the hair.
Ginger is a natural antioxidant that has a number a uses ranging from easing nausea to, in our case, stimulating hair growth. It has some pretty awesome anti-inflammatory benefits too. It’s been used for centuries in alternative medicine practices and has been found to significantly reduce hair loss and scalp issues because of its antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. We added it to SUDAN not only for its ability to boost hair growth, but also because of how soft and shiny it makes the hair feel. Since it's so great for the scalp, it also helps reduce dandruff. Ginger is another great natural way to repair split ends, too!
Witch hazel is nature’s (and my own personal) favorite astringent. It helps reduce excess sebum production and balances out the pH of the scalp to keep it happy and healthy. It leaves the scalp feeling renewed and refreshed. Witch hazel helps heal the scalp and reduces inflammation and irritation. The main reason we added it to SUDAN is because of its ability to reduce hair loss. Witch hazel in this case helps the hair follicle grasp the tissues of the scalp, so it keeps the hair strong through the root!
Dead Sea salt, is literally salt from the Dead Sea in Israel. You know, the sea that's so dense with salt, you can float on top with no issue? The salt from the Dead Sea has so many minerals (21 to be exact) that our body needs, including magnesium, calcium, zinc, potassium, and sulfur. Dead Sea salt is great for detoxifying our bodies, but it also deeply cleanses the hair, while keeping it refreshed. It also helps stimulate hair growth and reduces hair loss. All of the minerals in Dead Sea salt help improve the strength of the hair and nourish the hair from the follicle. This keeps the scalp strong, balanced, and healthy, allowing for a healthy environment for new growth!
Cardamom is a spice that originates in south Asian countries with a ton of antioxidant properties. It's also antimicrobial, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory. Cardamom is also full of vitamins and minerals that our hair loves, like vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. It helps increase blood flow to the scalp, which helps stimulate hair growth. It protects the scalp from dryness and helps reduce inflammation that can lead to issues like dandruff. Cardamom helps keep strands strong and helps boost the overall appearance of the hair.
Spearmint is awesome if you're into that whole tingly-scalp feeling. Spearmint is great for increasing blood flow to the scalp and stimulating hair growth. This helps hair grow stronger from the root and allows it to grow much faster. It's super soothing to an irritated scalp as well!
Umckaloabo is South African geranium, a type of flower. It's a medicinal plant that's used to treat colds, the flu, and throat infections, among other things. It naturally has a ton of antibacterial and antibiotic properties for our bodies, but what does it do for our hair? We added it to SUDAN because of its detoxification properties. It does a great job of detoxifying the scalp to create a healthier environment for hair to grow!
Elderflower, not to be confused with elderberry, has been used for centuries to treat a number of common illnesses like colds and the flu, while also being used in baked goods and cocktails. So why would we add it to a hair product? Glad you asked!! It has anti-inflammatory properties that can help ease problem areas on the scalp and the hair. It helps repair damaged ends and encourages hair growth when the oil is massaged into the scalp. We added it to SUDAN because it imparts shine by sealing the hair cuticle, which in turn makes the hair that much more manageable!

Oh….you thought we were finished??? There’s one final product in the hair kit that we think everyone will love….

All About Marrakesh

If you've ever used hair butter, you know it usually very thick, rich, and meant to impart intense moisture. A product this creamy is ideal for kinky-curly hair types. We developed the MARRAKESH Argan Oil Shine & Moisture Hair Butter with 4c hair types in mind, however, because we love you guys, we made sure that every ingredient was friendly to every hair type. The first of which is Argan oil, a miracle oil that has benefits for our hair, skin, and nails. Argan oil comes from the kernels of the Argan tree in Morocco. It has a ton of beneficial omega 9 and omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin E, which deeply hydrates and nourishes the hair. It's super lightweight -- light enough to use on your skin without worrying about clogged pores -- so it won't weigh down the hair or leave it feeling greasy. It helps improve shine and the hair’s overall appearance, while also repairing split ends and calming flyaways. Argan oil is an intense moisturizer, making it the perfect star for this hair butter!
Shea butter is rich in vitamins E and A, and like Argan oil, can help repair split ends. It comes from the seeds of the Shea tree in west Africa and is deeply moisturizing. You won't have to worry about dry, brittle hair anymore if you incorporate Shea butter into your hair routine. Shea butter also helps soften and condition the hair. It creates a protective coating around the hair shaft to protect it from damage from chemicals and hot tools! Shea butter is guaranteed to to bring life back to dull, lifeless hair.
Shea nut oil is not to be confused with Shea butter since it's much lighter in texture. Shea butter is quite literally the consistency of butter. Shea oil is light enough to use on your skin. We love it because it gives a bunch of the same benefits as Shea butter in a much lighter texture. It has a lot of the same fatty acids as Shea butter, as well as vitamins A, E, F, plus antioxidants. Shea oil helps condition the scalp and seal moisture into the hair. It also helps add volume and, most importantly, it helps define the curl pattern.
Olive oil is added to strengthen and add shine to the hair. Olive oil is rich in vitamins A and E, as well as antioxidants to block out free radicals. It helps remove excess sebum from the scalp, keeping it more balanced. Brittle, split ends will be repaired and restored. Overall, olive oil helps protect our hairs natural keratin and keeps moisture locked into the hair.
Cotton seed oil is a natural heat protectant! So if you must use hot tools in your hair, this might be an all natural solution you're looking for, since it has a smoke point of 450 degrees. It mostly consists of linoleic and oleic acids, two fatty acids that help build the scalps protective barrier. It's also full of vitamin E and protein -- a super important component to our hairs health. The protein in the oil helps increase blood flow to the scalp which helps stimulate growth. The hair will appear stronger, thicker, and shinier.
Baobab oil comes from the baobab fruit which looks similar to a coconut. The best baobab oil is cold pressed, since that process doesn't ruin the important nutrients in the oil. It's just as beneficial for the skin as it is for the hair. It has omega 3s, and vitamins A, D3, and E -- making it super healthy for our hair and scalp, creating a healthy environment for hair to grow strong. The best part of baobab oil is that it's super absorbent and disappears into the hair almost instantly without any greasiness or residue. This oil is ideal for everyday because it's so lightweight, leaves the hair super shiny, and it's just so good for our hair. Plus, it contains more antioxidants than any fruit on earth!!
Apple seed oil has a ton of vitamins and minerals like iron, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. It imparts deep, intense moisture into the hair shaft, while also delivering shine. Apple seed oil has a lot of fatty acids that seeping hydrate and nourish the hair. Plus it has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce irritation on the scalp, too!
Evening primrose oil contains a fatty acid known as gamma linoleic acid (or GLA), which is considered one of the fatty acids that's necessary for maintaining the healthy development and growth of the hair. Aside from that, it also has hormone-balancing properties, is an anti-inflammatory, and contains antioxidants. It's just as beneficial for the skin, too!
Castor oil is a great option for reducing hair fall out and promoting growth. Side bar: I apply to my lashes every night before bed and they have grown exponentially -- I barely need mascara anymore. So if it can do that to my lashes, imagine what it can do for the hair on our heads?! Castor oil has ricinoleic acid, which can help balance the scalps pH and help restore the scalps natural oils. It's also been shown to help restore damage from other products, chemicals, and hot tools.
Marula oil is full of hair-healthy vitamin C and oleic acid, which both work to keep the hair protected from outside damage. It's super light and makes it a great option for keeping moisture locked into the hair. Marula oil is deeply nourishing and helps the hair retain moisture. Overall, it helps restore the health of the hair from root to tip.
Calendula heals and conditions the scalp, which helps the hair grow stronger. The oil comes from the dandelion flower, and when applied it’s to the scalp, calendula promotes collagen production and increases circulation through the hair follicles. As we've learned, a happy scalp leads to happy hair. Calendula also helps deeply hydrate a dry scalp, reducing irritation and dandruff!
Comfrey root is a healing herb that's been used for centuries in alternative medicine. Similar to marshmallow root, it creates mucilage that adds some really intense slip to the hair, making it easier to detangle the hair. Being that it's a healing herb, it helps heal the hair from the root. It's full of protein, minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins A and B12. Comfrey is great for relaxing the hair and keeping it calm and manageable.
Lavender is super relaxing as well. It contains antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. This helps support scalp health and keeps it nice and balanced. Lavender also helps stimulate hair growth by promoting blood circulation to the scalp.
Rosemary is a powerful hair growth stimulator. It's full of antioxidants that protect against damage from free radicals. It helps slow down hair loss by blocking the hormone that causes it. The result of consistent use of rosemary on the hair and scalp will be thicker, stronger hair. Rosemary also adds some intense shine!
