Infused Water | Summer Beauty Care

By Alexa Santory

On Friday, we discussed the importance of drinking water in the heat (it even helps get rid of body odor, remember?) If plain water just isn't your thing, infused waters might be what you're looking for. Including fruits and veggies in your water not only helps it taste yummy, it can also have amazing detoxing benefits as well. What's better than that?

Benefits of Infused Water

Infused water is perfect for:

flushing toxins out of the body
    boosting metabolism
providing energy and improving your mood
        improving digestive health

Check out these yummy infused water recipes!

And of course, after another lovely week of Beauty School,

it's time to go over what we've learned.

          • SPF? Don't skimp on it. Yes, even if you are brown, you must must MUST wear sunscreen. It is essential to protecting your skin from harmful UV rays and can help slow down aging. Remember, you want to look younger than all of your non-SPF-using friends in 30 years! #motivation

          • Opt for non-toxic sunscreens, specifically mineral based ones. They won't clog your pores or break you out the way traditional chemical sunscreens do.
          • UV rays can damage your hair too! Sun damage and regular hair damage can look and feel the same. But, it's important to take extra caution in the summertime, especially for people with natural hair. Moisture is what gives natural hair it's beautiful quality, and since UV rays suck the moisture from everything, make sure to take more time moisturizing your hair when you know you’re going to be out in the sun.
          • Avoid hot tools in the summertime and keep your hair moisturized if you find its dry and brittle. Find a method that works best for you to reverse that damage. Remember, protective styles are your friend. They're there to literally protect your hair from any further damage. And they can look hella cute with some summery accessories.

Here are some cute styles for inspiration.

          • Even on the hottest days, you can still flex your natural beauty! Keep aloe vera on deck at all times. This is not a drill, folks!! It's so good for your skin. Don't forget to hydrate! At least three liters of water a day can do the trick!

Summer time is absolutely sublime, but there are some measures we must take to stay healthy and hydrated. Take these tips with you on all your adventures this summer!
