Custom Restoring Avocado Hair Mask: A Breakdown

If you’ve ever experienced hair damage, I’m sure you know how discouraging it can be to deal with it. Sometimes it feels like nothing is helping, and you’ve probably thought your hair would be damaged forever. Although it won’t happen overnight, there are ways to restore dry, damaged hair to a much more manageable state. Our Custom Restoring Avocado mask is a great place to start. It has everything your hair needs to revive and repair it from the inside, like olive oil, eggplant, slippery elm, and of course, avocado! Damage doesn’t stand a chance with this mask! After a single use, our customers have told us that their hair feels softer, looks shinier and more defined, and their hair is moisturized for days!! Yes, days! Still not convinced? Let’s take a look at all the good stuff we put in this mask, and then see how you feel!

Avocado Pulp

AKA the star of the show. All that buttery goodness has to be good something right? It’s full of amino acids and proteins that penetrate deep into the hair, restoring it from the inside out. The pulp works to nourish and heal the hair and scalp, helping to reverse damage and improve the overall condition of the hair. It’s high in vitamin B, an antioxidant that protects the hair from free radical damage. There’s also vitamin E, which makes an excellent moisturizer. We love it because it repairs split ends and coats the hair in a protective layer that keeps it moisturized. Since it helps to nourish the scalp as well, it could help stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss!

Avocado Seed

AKA the OTHER star of the show. Remember when we said that the seed had a ton of uses too? This is one of them! They’re full of antioxidants and amino acids that help revive damaged, frizzy hair. It’s awesome for healing split ends and reversing brittleness. It also imparts some pretty intense shine and can help stop an itchy scalp in its tracks. Are you surprised by what the seed can do? Wait till you find out what else is in the mask!

Olive oil

It has been found to repair damaged hair really well. Whether it’s chemical damage or heat damage, olive oil will help repair and soften the hair. Olive oil has oleic acid, palmitic acid, and squalene, all of which are emollients, meaning they’re excellent for keeping your hair soft and manageable. It helps keep the hair strong and shiny, lubricates the scalp, and deeply conditions the hair. We love it because it keeps moisture where it belongs: in your hair!

Eggplant

Eggplant is rich in vitamin C and other phytonutrients that help blood circulation, which is great news for your scalp! It can also help ease dry scalp issues like dandruff. Eggplant has high water content, so it delivers some intense moisture directly to the root of the hair. It helps improve overall texture too, including brittleness. Who knew??

Shikakai

This herb has been used for centuries in Ayurveda. With that in mind, we knew we had to add it to this mask because of its amazing ability to add softness and shine. It’s great for getting rid of dandruff because of its antifungal properties and can even repair a dry scalp. Shikakai can help restore the pH of your scalp too, creating a healthy environment for growth, strength, and thickness. It makes for a great hair detangler and can repair split ends too!

Slippery elm

It's an odd little ingredient that comes from a small tree native to Canada and the Appalachian Mountains. Coming from the inner bark of said tree, it’s been used for centuries because of its amazing medicinal properties. Native Americans used it to treat wounds and other skin ailments, and it’s also been found to treat sore throats and coughs. In terms of what it can do for your hair,  it’s pretty awesome too. Slippery elm is full of calcium and amino acids, which help, promote strong, thick hair. It also contains iodine, an element our bodies need in order to function and a lack of it can lead to hair loss! We love it because it adds volume and bounciness, while giving the hair some amazing slip that is excellent for detangling!

What should you add in?

Given the nature of this mask, you don’t necessarily have to add anything! But with the option to customize, why not take advantage? Let’s look into a few of our favorite add-ins and why they’re so great!
Lemon peel is a great option if you’re concerned about scalp health. It works to balance the scalp’s pH, promoting a healthy environment for growth! Lemon peel is full of vitamin C, which is a great collagen booster that can stimulate and support hair growth. Lemons deep clean and unclog hair follicles, easing and preventing scalp issues like dandruff and hair fall out!
Cilantro is one of those amazing herbs that are anti-everything -- bacterial, fungal, inflammatory, you name it. We love it because it’s anti-everything and how well it deep cleans the scalp. It’s great for unclogging the hair follicles, which can stimulate and promote growth and thickness!
Himalayan pink salt is the one of the most alkaline foods in the world. It contains a whopping 84 minerals our bodies need to function. It’s great for kick starting a detox, so why wouldn’t you want to add it to this mask? It’s excellent for oily scalps because it absorbs excess moisture with ease. Pink salt also helps boost blood circulation, which could stimulate hair growth! What’s not to love??
After reading that incredible list of all natural, non-toxic ingredients, tell me you’re not convinced!! This mask truly has something for everyone, but for all of you out there dealing with damaged hair, there is a light at the end of the tunnel! It just might be our Restoring Avocado mask!
